Below, you will find an application
for the second annual STRENGTH, COURAGE, and
DETERMINATION Award and Scholarship.
This award is in memory of Ryan J.
Shuman, a senior Hockey Player from Eden Prairie
that lost his life to a twenty
nine
month battle against a rare form of cancer.
Throughout Ryan’s life, especially
during his fight against his cancer, he showed a
great deal of strength, courage, and determination
to meet his challenges each and every day with a
positive attitude. Ryan also spent many hours
volunteering and was an avid spokesperson against
childhood cancer along with maintaining a high
commitment to academics.
The award and scholarship winner
will be a graduating senior that exhibits these
attributes (Strength, Courage, Determination,
Volunteerism, and Academic achievement.
The winner of this award and
scholarship will be presented with a $2,000
scholarship and a crystal iceberg award during the
Minnesota Hockey Coaches Hall of Fame Awards
Ceremony which will be held during the State High
School Hockey Tournament.
Please submit one graduating senior
from your team that has demonstrated the above
attributes. The nominated player must have their
completed application no later than February 28,
2008.
